Appreciated this letter received this morning from Barbara Serena:
this morning i woke up with an urge to watch PHANTOM LOVE again. and, again, i am BLOWN AWAY by the way nina was able to represent the world of continuous horror and loss that trauma creates, and how she did it from a female perspective, without losing any sensuality. i do not know how people who have not experienced severe violence see this work. i mean, life is absurd and everyone is traumatized to some degree, but, well, there are degrees…all i can say, i have rarely, if ever, felt so represented. i have been told a million times i should write a book, finish my scripts, blah blah blah, and i never feel like what i have to say could be of interest to anyone (hence i write music), and watching nina’s work again i am envious (in a good way:-)) of her ability to speak, of her awareness that her voice IS to be heard. this is SERIOUS work. beautiful, painful. GREAT work.
thank you barbara!!!! x
